Updates and Progress Reports

Well, it’s been a while since I’ve done anything with the website…since February, apparently. This is largely because I’ve been working on a other things like…

  • The sequel to The Aos Si’s Gift has a current working title and about 360 pages (5.25″ x 8.5″ pages, not 8.5″ x 11″ pages) of first draft, taking the book to (at last check) something like 25 or 26 chapters. So far, this book has a slightly lower word-count compared to the same point which I was at for The Aos Si’s Gift. I will not reveal too much at this point, other than to say that the Wolf of Vespin series is nowhere close to over at this point. In terms of material, book two is somewhere in the ballpark of 75% complete. Writing it has had its slow points and faster points, and I’m hoping that I’ll be able to get it done sooner rather than later.
  • Drawing has honestly started taking up a good chunk of my time again for the first time in, well, a long time. I sort of came off my self-imposed hiatus a few years ago, but my output was still very low compared to my teens to mid-20s when I was sometimes completing 2-3 or more drawings daily. (Many of those are now missing as some of my sketchbooks and other materials were tossed or forgotten.) Either way, the site now has a Gallery page where I’ll be posting at least some of my artwork as I complete it. Feel free to have a look and enjoy. Much more is to follow.

To be honest, I have been struggling to keep confidence in this project and have multiple times consider shutting it down, including pulling The Aos Si’s Gift completely. As it stands, I have a lot of catching up to do here. I’ve had similar disruptions to my activity over on Substack, and have generally felt like I’m struggling to find the time to get some things done. Writing started feeling like a chore, and I kept finding more and more things getting in the way.

Despite some rough times, the past few weeks have been a bit of a pick-me-up.

Writing the sequel to The Aos Si’s Gift no longer feels like a chore. It’s feeling like something I enjoy doing again, so I’ve been able to dedicate a little more time to it without eyeing my laptop like it’s some sort of demonic creature threatening to consume my soul. I honestly think I’ve knocked out more pages written in the last 3-5 days than in the prior month. So, it’s finally trucking along again.

That being said, I do still have future plans for this site and have added some new material to Screaming Into the Void over on my Substack. (By the way, you can follow me on that second link if you’re not into other social media.) Most recently, I added a new short story, The Pale Man, over on Substack, which I will be mirroring here as I begin a series of overhauls and updates.

In the meantime, I need to take care of some general errands while I sort everything out.
