First, I noted that I didn’t post the two updates which I made to Screaming Into the Void over on Substack last week. I got caught up in the Thanksgiving holiday, and some other things that happened over the weekend.
The first article is The Aos Si’s Gift: Part 1, In a Little Greater Detail. In this, I go into a little more detail on my sources of inspiration not only for the book itself, but also for the cover. I also provide a sneak peak at one of the maps which I created for the world in which The Aos Si’s Gift takes place. I’ll be continuing this series over on Substack.
The second article is Prompt & Response 1 had no working title. I saw a prompt on X that read as follows:
From her cell, Kate gazed out at indifferent stars. A guard whispered, “Your message got out.” And it was encouragement, not condemnation.
A short exert of my response to that prompt is as follows:
“What message,” Kate asked the guard.
The guard blinked. “To your cousin,” he replied. “About the trial.”
Kate’s eyes widened. She slipped an arm through the bars and grabbed the guard by his green-trimmed, red frock coat. “Listen to me,” she said urgently. “You have to get out of here!”
“What do you–“
“I never sent a message! Nor have I asked one to be sent!”
If you are interest in reading the rest, pop over to the Prompt & Response 1 over on Screaming Into the Void. It’s not particularly long, just over standard essay length at about 675 words, so it shouldn’t take long to read. And, if you like content like that, please let me know so that I can post more. I’d like to do more with writing prompts, if nothing more than to give my mind something to do that is outside of my main work.
Unfortunately, as mentioned previously, I got distracted by the holiday. I had forgotten that it was Thanksgiving week. There were a few things that I did not manage to get to, and had a few technical setbacks. So, starting the podcast is running behind schedule. I think I have a better handle on what I’m doing now, though, so I shouldn’t be too much further behind.
I will update this site as I learn more.
