The purpose of this site is to keep any readers who are interested in my work updated on what I am doing. That is, to keep the interested abreast of what is happening with my current work, where to find and purchase currently available material, and my progress on future work. That being said, I am also going to let you know where things are headed for the future. I will be using my Substack page for general commentary, discussions on writing and process, and so on.
The Aos Si’s Gift is still available in paperback (print-on-demand) and eBook formats at every outlet listed on the Links page. Furthermore, the Christmas discount is still live until December 6th here. While I am on that topic, I may extend the Christmas Discount until December 24th, depending on what happens going forward. I am also working on getting a hardcover version of the book available. Unfortunately, proofs of the hardcover version are coming in backwards because I accidentally set the book to the RTL option. I am currently working on rectifying that, and the hardcover edition will be made available as soon as I can manage it. Once that correction is made, I’ll update the Links page accordingly.
Outside of The Aos Si’s Gift and the next installment of The Wolf of Vespin series, most of my time has been dedicated to a combination of continued job-hunting and working on getting the website, social media, and other promotional work going. I am currently working on some additional artwork which will be used to promote The Aos Si’s Gift, so be on the lookout for that to appear on X and Instagram in the coming days.
As hinted at earlier, I have also been working on getting my Substack up and running. The somewhat ironically titled Screaming Into the Void is where I will be trying to post weekly short articles and a podcast. (I know, I know…something something…Millenials and irony.) It is still a work-in-progress, so I don’t have anything there, yet. Postings there will be largely topics on the craft and business of writing as well as whatever else piques my interest. I may also post short stories on the Substack, but I have not yet decided if that is the proper outlet. Whenever a post is made there, I will be posting an article blurb with a link to the article. (These posts will be made in addition to, rather than in lieu of, weekly updates.) If I can, I will also post short clips from the podcast. Depending on where things go in the future, I plan on either weekly or bi-weekly podcast episodes.
Between trying to market The Aos Si’s Gift and some unforeseen circumstances, I have not been able to make much progress on the next book in the series. I have the beginnings of an outline, but that is about as far as I have gotten.
As far as this website goes, I am working on getting a newsletter or subscriber system going. I do not have any plans to monetize either the newsletter or subscription. The sole purpose of these would be to help keep rolling updates moving to anyone interested.
As for the future of my creative work, I currently have a treatment for The Wolf of Vespin series that gives an overall story arc for the remainder of the series. This treatment requires updates in light of some tweaks that were made to the story while writing The Aos Si’s Gift. Most of this work is the result of some refinement of the characters while others are the result of my own personal growth. I also need to update my notes, especially for historical material, to account for some adjustments in dates, names, and events. In addition to The Wolf of Vespin series, I plan on exploiting the fact that I built a large world with multiple nations, ethnic groups, religions, and political factions–whether they actively appear in The Wolf of Vespin series or not. I already have short treatments and bits of rough work (e.g. experimental, “what would it look like if…,” chapters and shorts) for additional books and even series of books that will follow other characters at other places and times in the world’s development. (I also have a lot of other ideas rolling around in my head, but that is a discussion for another time.) At this point, however, I do not have any plans for future large-world building except what I need to extend what I’ve already created.
Finally, I do have plans for the future of this site. Among other things, I would like to set up this site for e-commerce to facilitate direct sales of things like signed copies. Depending on interest and available capital, I may also make things like special editions, merchandise, a companion guide, and the like available. I should stress that this will depend on both interest and available capital. Since everything I do is home-brew, what I can do is going to be very limited by the time, tools, and finances I have available. (Basically, the direction this goes into the future is entirely dependent on what happens today…you know, sort of like everything else in life.)
In the meantime, I wish everyone who stumbles on this little blurb a pleasant day/afternoon/evening/whatever. God bless you.
